    General Layfield joined The SPECTRUM Group after his last assignment Army Active duty assignment as Director, Joint and Coalition Warfighting Center/Director Joint Training J7.  He has held numerous command and senior staff positions including; Commanding General U.S. Army Alaska, Commander, 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division at as well as command at the battalion level. Key staff assignments include serving as the Operations Officer for V Corps, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Intelligence for Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Corps, and operational duty on the Joint Staff. He has numerous deployments including; Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, Operation Joint Guard/Endeavor in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Task Force Able Sentry in the Republic of Macedonia.  He serves on the advisory board for the Center for Logistics Management at Albany State University.

    General Layfield has extensive experience in the BRAC process and has deep knowledge and experience in the Army training, operational and requirements domains. He served as the Fort Carson lead project officer for the final stages of the 1995 BRAC round, and teamed with all levels of the Colorado. state government to formulate the BRAC strategy.  Helped lead the Colorado Springs BRAC initiatives which contributed to the expansion of the Army footprint in Colorado.


    General Layfield holds a B.S. Engineering from the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY. He also has an M.A. General Administration from Central Michigan University.
