- Ms. Johnson is the Vice President for the Youth and Education Division at SPECTRUM. She has expertise in family and youth services and education and extensive experience in policy, direct practice and academic research.
Biography:
Ms. Barbara B. Johnson serves as the Vice President for the Youth and Education Division at SPECTRUM and has been active in issues concerning family and children for more than 30 years. She has worked as a member of a multidisciplinary team serving children with special needs from preschool through high school. She served as an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of South Dakota where she wrote and implemented grants to provide training for the Department of Social Services in addition to her teaching responsibilities. She represented the state on regional steering committees for child welfare education and was a trainer on national initiatives. She has also served as a social worker in the public school system.
Barbara is currently s a steering committee member for the Executive Council for Congressional Families for Cancer Awareness. She is active in promoting the need for breast cancer research through public service announcements and volunteer fundraising.
