Biography:
Cort Durocher led the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) from 1988 to 2005. As Executive Director of the largest professional aerospace organization, he managed all operational aspects - - publications, technical symposia, standards, education, public policy and membership development. The Institute is globally recognized as the premier information provider in propulsion, structures, guidance, communication systems, aerospace sciences, and air, space and missile platforms.
His expertise includes entrepreneurial business development, international collaboration, brokering technology applications, reengineering staff, restoring profitability, building sponsorship programs, modernizing operations, and significantly expanding markets for products and services.
A command pilot, he blended a twenty year career in the Air Force between operational flying and developmental engineering. He served as Deputy Director and Director of Technology, Advanced Launch System Program Office (now EELV), Study Director for President Reagan National Space Transportation Study, Strategic Defense Initiative Work Package Director and Space Shuttle Astronautical Engineer. He served as pilot, instructor, functional test pilot, flight examiner, and operations officer in attack and strike control aircraft. He developed a worldwide deployment capability for forward air control aircraft by instituting an air-refueling test and training program.
He has experience with all branches of the uniformed services as well as DARPA, FAA, NASA, Intelligence Community, MDA, and the Departments of State, Commerce and Transportation.
Education:
Mr. Durocher holds a B. S. in Aeronautical Engineering from the U. S. Air Force Academy and an M. S. in Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He completed Northwestern University (Kellogg) Advanced Executive Program and Whartons Director Institute.
