Biography:
After completing 22 years in the Army in Infantry Command and Staff Officer positions, and as a Nuclear Weapons and Arms Control Specialist, COL Frankiewicz retired and focused his career in the private sector on scientific and technical programs supporting the Departments of Defense, Energy, and Homeland Security.
COL Frankiewicz military career included tours in Vietnam as an Infantry Platoon Leader, in Korea as the 2nd Infantry Division Secretary of the General Staff, and with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in a variety of command and staff positions culminating in Command of the 3rd Batallion, 187th Infantry Regiment. He served as a Theater Nuclear Forces specialist on the Army, Joint Chiefs, and Office of the Secretary of Defense Staffs. He was a member of the U.S. Delegation to the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty Arms Control Delegation,. He served in Intelligence positions in the US European Command, 2nd Infantry Division, 1st Cavalry Division, and 82nd Airborne Division. He was selected but declined command of an Infantry Brigade prior to retirement.
COL Frankiewicz career in the private sector includes development of sensor technologies for the Intelligence Community and the Army, nuclear waste management at the DOE Waste Isolation Pilot Plant and the Yucca Mountain Project, and disaster management for the Department of Homeland Security. He was the General Manager of the Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility in Utah during a period when the Plant was restarted and through the majority of the Vx nerve agent campaign.
COL Frankiewicz has nearly 20 years of experience in working with Federal Departments in Washington, D.C. including Defense, Energy, State, Homeland Security. His career includes nearly 15 years experience with the National Laboratories and DOE Weapons Complex Sites at Livermore, Los Alamos, Hanford, Y-12 National Security Complex, Waste Isolation Pilot Plant and Yucca Mountain Project.
Colonel has Masters Degrees in Physics and Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was a Research Associate at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a JCS Arms Control Fellow, and an MIT Seminar XXI Fellow.
