  • Lt Gen Waskow is a member of the Air Force Division at SPECTRUM. He has expertise in Air Force command and control systems, operations and training, humanitarian operations, NATO and Asian international operations, and defense business development.

Biography:

Lieutenant General Tom Waskow retired in 2005 from a 35 year career in the United States Air Force where he held a wide variety of command and staff positions. His last assignment was as Commander US Forces, Japan (USFJ) and Commander 5th Air Force at Yokota Air Base, Japan. Previously he was the Director of Air and Space Operations for Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) and was responsible for ensuring the combat capabilities of USAF assets assigned to PACAF. On the morning of the 11th of September 2001 following the terrorists attacks in the CONUS, he was one of three Air Force General Officers assigned the mission of command for the air sovereignty over the airspace structure in the United States, OPERATION NOBLE EAGLE.
Lt Gen Waskow has extensive experience in all facets of strategic, operational and tactical planning and execution of air operations. He has a broad range of international experience having spent 19 years overseas with command assignments in Europe and Asia. As Chief of Staff of NATOs AIRSOUTH, he directed air operations in Bosnia, and as PACAF Director of Operations, he was responsible for standing up the PACAF Falconer Air Operations Center. He also has extensive experience in supporting Humanitarian operations in Europe and Asia. As Commander USFJ, he was the major force provider for the US support to the Indian Ocean Tsunami relief operation in 2004.
A command pilot, Lt Gen Waskow has over 4,500 hours of flying time including over 900 hours of combat time and 2,200 hours in the F-15. Additionally, he was selected as a Senior Executive Fellow at Harvard and a Seminar XXI Fellow at MIT.
After leaving active duty, he worked as Vice President for Strategic Development for an IT company where he was responsible for resource allocation, organizational restructuring, and human relations planning.

Education:

Lt Gen Waskow has a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering from the US Air Force Academy. He also has a M.S. in Business Management from Central Michigan University. He attended the National War College prior to serving on the Joint Staff for the Pentagon.
